The Cornell University campus is mourning the loss of two students in as many days…..and the third within the last month.
The search continued over the weekend for 21-year old junior Matthew Zika, who was observed falling from the Suspension Bridge into the Fall Creek Gorge Friday afternoon. His body has yet to be recovered.
Zika’s fall came a day after the body of sophomore William Sinclair was recovered from the same gorge. Last month, freshman Bradley Ginsburg died in the same area.
In a message to the campus community Friday, Cornell president David Skorton said he joined in the grieving process, as university administrators reminded students, faculty and staff that counseling and support services were available.
Cornell police, E-M-S workers and other security personnel were also seen on all bridges around campus this weekend.
This is the final week of classes at Cornell before spring break.
