Excellent question! I’m Aaron “Terk” Terkel, originally a Cleveland, OH native, turned Ithaca College Bomber, and now full-time Ithacan. I’m a music-lover, keyboard player, tuba player, recording engineer, and human jukebox.

How did you get into this radio thing?
I had my first love-affair with radio at overnight camp. It was the summer before 6th grade. Ahh, I remember it like it was yesterday… (Insert dream sequence here) There I was, the first day of camp, and we were signing up for activities: Basketball? No, I’m only 5’6.” How about horseback riding? I don’t know about that, horses are kinda smelly. Arts and crafts? No, that’s for girls. Boating? Ok. Mountain biking? Sure. Radio? WHAT? THEY HAVE A REAL RADIO STATION? (granted, it was a dual cassette tape deck wired to a radio shack microphone and a 5-watt transmitter, but still pretty cool) The rest was history.
Who are your favorite bands/artists?
I’ll just go for the running list (in no particular order): Stevie Wonder, Esperanza Spalding, Elvis Costello, The Black Keys, Herbie Hancock, Stephen Malkmus, Chaka Kahn, Chick Corea, Medeski, Martin & Wood, Zapp and Roger, Devo, Kites in Space, and the list goes on, and on, and on, and on…
Ok. You like music. We get it. But what about movies? Books? Do people still read books?
Do people still read books? Isn’t that what those Kindle things are for? Being a native Clevelander, one of my favorite movies of all time is Major League, featuring Charlie Sheen as renegade pitcher “Wild Thing.” Anything with Bill Murray or Mel Brooks are also prime for viewing. I’m always up for a Star Trek (Shatner), Twilight Zone, or James Bond marathon too.
Dogs or cats?
A dog is man’s best friend, though I do like Garfield.
Chocolate or Vanilla?
Are we talking ice cream? Because the answer to that question is Key Lime Pie.
What do you do when you’re not “On The Vine?”
I’m a self-proclaimed foodie. I like cooking, and more importantly eating. Mexican and traditional American fare are my favorites. You’d be surprised what you can do with a grilled cheese sandwich.
