The TCAT Board of Directors met Wednesday to discuss the agency’s budget for next year. Board member Hank Dullea says with more residents relying on TCAT, it’s important to keep services affordable.
Dullea says keeping fares unchanged will mean annual contributions from Cornell University, the city of Ithaca, and Tompkins County must also remain steady.
Dullea is optimistic about local assistance, but says budgeting for state aid will be a challenge. Thirty-six percent of TCAT’s annual operating budget is funded by the state, which is still withholding TCAT’s quarterly funding this year.
